A Good Time to Buy? One in Four Say Yes!
Over a quarter of people surveyed by the Building Societies Association (BSA) feel that now is a good time to buy property in the UK.
And whilst 27% of people would still buy in the current market, just over half of those surveyed (51%) remain unconvinced.
The key concerns respondents raised as barriers to house purchase included affording the monthly repayments on a mortgage (70% of respondents), being able to access a large enough mortgage or a mortgage at all (49%), raising a deposit (47%) and concerns about future falls in property prices (46%).
Tony Rice, from TMP Mortgage Zone, said: "When the media starts talking about house buyers they tend to group them all into a single entity, but this survey shows that this is definitely not the case. Whilst over half of the respondents did not think it was a good time to buy, one in four people did and it's those people who now might struggle to find a first time buyer mortgage or home mover mortgage that meets their needs."
