House Prices Up Again
The Nationwide Building Society reported that house prices in July rose by 1.3%, the third month in a row that house prices have increased.
Tony Rice, of Bedfordshire-based specialist mortgage and insurance brokers, TMP Mortgage Zone, said: "This is good news, but let\'s not get carried away. Whilst there is still lots of concern about the state of the economy, house prices have been remarkably resilient. But even if this is a stabilisation or the beginning of a slow, and more sensible, rise in house prices, they are still a long way off their peak from the summer of 2007. What will really get the housing market moving again is when lenders start lending more to those people who want and can afford mortgages."
