House Prices Raised by Good Primary Schools
Figures released this week showed that better performing primary schools boosts local house prices - with some homes costing more than £19,500 more near the best performing primary schools than the equivalent property elsewhere.
A 10% improvement in local SATS results (the Government's Key Stage 2 test that pupils take at 11) leads to a 3.3% positive impact on the value of the average house price - increasing it by £5,860.
Tony Rice, of Bedfordshire-based specialist mortgage and insurance brokers TMP Mortgage Zone, said: "Being near to good schools has always boosted house prices, but the value of your home will increase far more if you convert the loft or add an extra bedroom."
