10 Downing Street - How much is it worth?

With the election campaign now well and truly in full swing (you can always tell when the eggs start flying) this week at TMP Mortgage Zone we thought we'd find out how much the Prime Minister's London pad is worth.

According to data compiled by the property website Zoopla, 10 Downing Street is now worth £4.5 million (this figure relates purely to the 3,800 sq ft apartment that the PM lives in, not the whole building).

Whilst the PM obviously does not pay to live there, if the apartment ever came on to the open market it is estimated that it would command a weekly rental of £4,250.

When Tony Blair took office in 1997, the apartment was valued at just over £1.6 million. During his stay, the value soared to just over £5m. So under Mr Brown, like many property owners during his term of office, the value of their main residence has actually fallen.
