HIP Replacement
The new Conservative-Liberal Democrat government has made an early mark on the housing market by scrapping Home Information Packs (HIPs).
Commenting on the decision, Tony Rice of Bedfordshire-based specialist mortgage and insurance brokers TMP Mortgage Zone, said: "This will be welcome news for many sellers who now don't have to fork out hundreds of pounds to get their house on the market. Buyers I talk to rarely know or care about the HIP on the house they are interested in so it looks like this is good news all round and might give the housing market a welcome boost."
Sellers will still need to produce an energy performance certificate within 28 days of putting their home on the market.
